Update: Orientation Week! Welcoming International Students to Thammasat, Semester 1/2023

     The International Orientation Week began with a campus tour on 8 August 2023. The Office of International Affairs treated incoming international students to a visit to notable places around the Thammasat-Tha Prachan campus – the underground library, Pridi Plaza, the canteen, Health Center and gym.

     Incoming students also visited relevant places at Thammasat-Rangsit to familiarize them with the Green Canteen, Sports Center, hospital, dormitories, and Puey Ungphakorn Centenary Hall.  The students wrapped up the tour with a visit to the TU-Book Store on both campuses for Thammasat uniform shopping to get them ready for student life and activities. The tours were conducted by the MC of the Thammasat team so that they could get a feel of what it will be like to be an international student at Thammasat-Tha Prachan and Rangsit.

     On 9 August 2023, almost 300 international students attended the Thammasat International Orientation Day for semester 1/2023 at the Sri Burapha Auditorium on the Tha Prachan campus.

     The morning session began with opening remarks delivered by the Vice Rector for Administration (Tha Prachan) and International Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surat Teerakapibal. He encouraged all incoming students to embrace their new environment during their time at Thammasat and seek out all the new opportunities available to them.

     Afterwards, a special lecture entitled “Guidance for new TU friends” was presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supreedee Rittironk from the Thammasat Design School. Before enjoying international food from the lunch trucks – featuring Pizzas with different types of toppings, Pad Thai, Thai Chicken Rice (Khao Man Gai), healthy ice-cream, and assorted fruit – the inter-students were entertained with quizzes about Thammasat with winners receiving unique Thammasat memorabilia as gifts.

     The highlight of the afternoon session was a talk by Lecturer Wiraphorn Hongwiangchan from the Faculty of Liberal Arts who discussed Thai culture and even included an introduction to basic Thai language.

     International students were guided on a cultural tour of the Emerald Buddha Temple and the Grand Palace as an introduction to the history of Thai architecture on 10 August 2023. During the tour, they were given the chance to gain more insights into Mural Painting and Stucco Arts, presented by an official expert guide from the Thai Royal Palace. The historical and cultural tour was organized by the OIA.

กิจกรรมปฐมนิเทศนักศึกษาต่างชาติสู่รั้วธรรมศาสตร์ ภาคเรียนที่ 1/2566 

     วันที่ 8 สิงหาคม 2566 กองวิเทศสัมพันธ์ จัดกิจกรรม Campus Tour ณ ท่าพระจันทร์ และศูนย์รังสิต โดยนักศึกษาต่างชาติได้เยี่ยมชมสถานที่สำคัญ ๆ ภายในรั้วมหาวิทยาลัยทั้ง 2 campus เพื่อทำความคุ้นเคยกับสถานที่ และสามารถใช้ประโยชน์ได้อย่างเต็มที่ อาทิ International lounge หอสมุด โรงอาหาร ศูนย์อนามัย ศูนย์กีฬา โรงพยาบาลธรรมศาสตร์ฯ หอพัก และมุมพักผ่อน เป็นต้น นอกจากนี้ นักศึกษายังได้เลือกซื้อชุดนักศึกษา ณ ศูนย์หนังสือธรรมศาสตร์

     วันที่ 9 สิงหาคม 2566  นักศึกษาต่างชาติจากหลากหลายประเทศเกือบ 300 คน เข้าร่วมงานปฐมนิเทศนักศึกษาใหม่สำหรับนักศึกษาต่างชาติ เทอม 1/2566 ณ หอประชุมศรีบูรพา มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ท่าพระจันทร์ โดยมี รศ.ดร.สุรัตน์ ทีรฆาภิบาล รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายบริหารท่าพระจันทร์และวิเทศสัมพันธ์ กล่าวเปิดงานและต้อนรับนักศึกษา จากนั้นรับฟังการบรรยายพิเศษ หัวข้อ“A guidance for new TU friends” โดย รศ.ดร.สุปรีดี ฤทธิรงค์ จากคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์และการผังเมือง พร้อมกับเล่นเกมตอบคำถามเกี่ยวกับเนื้อการบรรยาย เพื่อรับของที่ระลึกที่หาได้ในเฉพาะธรรมศาสตร์เท่านั้น และร่วมรับประทานอาหารจากร้านอาหารแนว Food truck ในหลากหลายรสชาติ เช่น พิซซ่า ผัดไท ข้าวมันไก่ ไอศกรีมเพื่อสุขภาพ และผลไม้

     ต่อจากนั้นมีการจัดกิจกรรมเรียนรู้ความเป็นไทย ด้วยการเรียนภาษาไทยเบื้องต้น สอดแทรกเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับวัฒนธรรมไทย เพื่อปรับใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันระหว่างการเรียนที่ประเทศไทย บรรยายโดย อาจารย์วิราพร หงษ์เวียงจันทร์ จากคณะศิลปศาสตร์

     วันที่ 10 สิงหาคม 2565 กิจกรรมเยี่ยมชมและศึกษาเรียนรู้ศิลปวัฒนธรรมประเพณีไทย ณ วัดพระแก้วและพระบรมมหาราชวัง โดยนักศึกษาได้รับทราบข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับประวัติความเป็นมาเกี่ยวกับสถาปัตยกรรมไทยภายในวัดพระแก้ว รวมถึงการให้ข้อมูลเกร็ดความรู้ประวัติศาสตร์เชิงลึกเกี่ยวกับความเป็นของสถานที่ จุดสำคัญต่าง ๆ และลวดลายไทยจิตรกรรมฝาผนังและปูนปั้น ซึ่งได้รับความอนุเคราะห์การบรรยายจากมัคคุเทศก์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากสำนักพระราชวัง
