Introduction & History

The Faculty of Political Science at Thammasat University , established in 1949, has a strong tradition of scholarship, public service and activism. It offers a full spectrum of undergraduate and graduate study in 3 majors : 1) politics and government, 2) public administration and 3) international relations. Graduate programs are offered to regular students, and special programs are open for executives . Moreover The Ph.D. Program in Political Science is inaugurated in 2002.


The Faculty prepares graduates to have a strong foundation for understanding important political issues, being local, domestic or international . Our mission is to provide solid education regarding politics that helps create globalcitizens with awareness, activism, and responsibility for Thailand and The World.



OBJECTIVES

The primary objective of the Faculty of Political Science is to offer theoretical and practical education by way of comparative studies about the politics, government, administration, and diplomacy of both Thailand and foreign countries. The students are also provided with interdisciplinary knowledge, study and research skills, and trainings for future careers in the government, public , or private enterprises. The final goal of this Faculty is to produce Political Science graduates with professional knowledge, analytical and research skills, and abilities to work for the development of oneself and for the benefit of the society. They also should possess good character and professional ethics, strong sense of responsibility, and abilities to select and maintain healthy ways of living.
