The secret that has become known to me is the happiness from giving without expecting what you get in return. This is the philosophy of my career pursuit, said Professor Anucha Apisarnthanarak.

Thammasat University takes pride in the devotion and success of Professor Anucha Apisarnthanarak – the head of infection unit, faculty of medicine, Thammasat University – who has recently received SHEA Mid-Career Scholarship Award 2018. He is the first Asian to receive such an award.

For him, receiving SHEA Mid-Career Scholarship Award is a lifetime accomplishment as the nomination process is extremely competitive. His research has also been cited widely and is published in Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology journal which is the highest-ranking of its kind.

Professor Anucha Apisarnthanarak is determined to constantly conduct research concerning infection in hospitals. The guiding philosophy is that the patients must be safe in the hospital. When the 2011 flood hit Thammasat University Hospital, his research contributed to the management of the hospital during that time. It has later become the best practice from which the hospital in the United States learned.
